Is Lenovo a Good Laptop Brand? [Detailed Answer]
Lenovo is a Chinese company that produces laptops, tablets, smartphones and personal computers. The company was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Beijing.
Lenovo is a brand that has been around for a while. They are known for their laptops and desktops, but they also make smartphones and tablets. Read more in detail here: is lenovo a good brand for gaming.
There are a lot of laptop manufacturers out there, but only a handful of them are as well-known as Lenovo.
If you’re on the market for a new computer, you’ve definitely seen one of their laptops in a shop or on the internet – they’re everywhere!
And it’s because they provide customers with so many excellent choices – many of which fall into the affordable category.
But, when it comes to the quality of Lenovo’s laptops, how excellent is it? We’ll discover out by taking a closer look at them and hearing from individuals who have used them (as well as my own, personal experience with the brand).
Is Lenovo a decent laptop brand?
Yes, Lenovo produces high-quality, reasonably priced computers. They mostly sell low- and mid-priced laptops, so if you need a gadget with a high spec and a contemporary design, you’ll have to seek elsewhere.
Lenovo laptops, on the other hand, are long-lasting, have excellent price/quality ratios, and are reasonably priced (which is always a bonus in my books).
Lenovo’s Overview
To begin, you should be aware that Lenovo is a Chinese corporation and one of the largest in the world. They began as a computer manufacturer and have been in operation since the 1980s (surprising!).
In 2006, they were able to acquire IBM’s Personal Computing Division. And at one time, IBM was the world’s third-largest technology firm (behind Apple and Microsoft).
So, if Lenovo manages to get its hands on them, it can’t be all terrible, right? Well, it is debatable. Because they bought IBM’s Personal Computing Division, they’re likely to have inherited part of its knowledge and experience, which explains why so many people like Lenovo laptops.
iBUYPOWER is another brand I’ve written about (albeit it’s not as well-known as Lenovo). Make sure to read up on them as well!
However, since Lenovo seems to cater mostly to the low-cost market (and perhaps the mid-range as well), many customers complain that the quality of its laptops isn’t up to par.
But, before we get into the downsides, let’s have a look at what others are saying about Lenovo!
Lenovo Laptops’ Advantages and Disadvantages
There seem to be more reasons to buy a Lenovo laptop than there are reasons not to, which is why I’m going to list them as pros and disadvantages.
Pros
1. Design/Style: Lenovo laptops offer a great, contemporary appearance to them, with sleek designs that are hard to resist!
2. The pricing: Lenovo is renowned for making inexpensive laptops, and you can typically buy Lenovo laptops with comparable specifications to those of other manufacturers, but at a lower price.
3. Specs/performance: Lenovo laptops provide excellent value for money in terms of performance. When comparing pricing of various models, you may discover that a Lenovo laptop has superior specifications than a similarly priced device from another manufacturer.
4. Longevity: Lenovo laptops are constructed of high-quality materials that will not only look good for a long time but will also protect you from bumps and scratches.

Cons
1. They don’t have the greatest customer service I’ve ever seen. Lenovo, in fact, has been rated as having the poorest customer service of all laptop manufacturers.
2. There have been complaints from customers who claim that after registering their device for repair, they were contacted by telemarketers! Yeah, that’s not cool (although I’ve never experienced it, so take that with a grain of salt!)
3. Their return/warranty policy is also a little unclear and rigid. I’ve heard a range of opinions on this brand’s warranties and returns, from those who think it’s wonderful to others who say it’s a nightmare to get anything repaired or replaced.
4. Their laptops are a little larger and heavier, and their design may seem a little antiquated at times (this is a personal preference, though).
5. They may fail or cease functioning sooner than other computers, while being very robust in most instances.
I’ve experienced minor display issues with different models – but it was never a major issue (as in requiring me to replace the model or even send it in for repairs).
In addition, the laptop would sometimes fail to power on (but I have a fix for that here).
Overall, Lenovo laptops aren’t flawless, but they’re still excellent devices that provide good value for the money spent.
However, I would advise you to check customer feedbacks carefully before making a purchase – simply to be aware of any problems that other customers may have, since some of their models may be better than others!
With all of this in mind, Lenovo seems to be a decent option if you’re on a tight budget. I’ve been using Lenovo laptops for a long time, and although I prefer other manufacturers for gaming laptops, a Lenovo laptop is perfectly enough for a normal, casual user.
This is why, whether we’re talking about the best laptop for writers or the best laptop for homeschooling, Lenovo laptops always make it into my lists of recommendations.
Lenovo Laptops Come in a Variety of Styles
There are a variety of models available, so whatever your budget, you should be able to find one that works for you!
There are three major series of Lenovo laptops: Ideapads, ThinkPads, and the Lenovo Yoga Series (as well as a more high spec one: Lenovo Legion).
So, let’s have a look at how excellent (or terrible) each of these series is now!
Laptops Lenovo Ideapad
The Ideapads are Lenovo’s most inexpensive range, and they’re much less expensive than the ThinkPads (which we’ll discuss later).
They also provide excellent specifications for their price, although certain models may not be as robust or efficient as they should be (in my opinion).
Lenovo ThinkPad Laptops
These laptops are designed with business users in mind, as their name implies.
ThinkPads provide excellent value for the money, and most of them come with long-lasting batteries that last anywhere from six to twelve hours!
They’re also more robust than Ideapads, which is why they’re so popular at work.
It’s worth noting that ThinkPads were first produced by Lenovo after the company acquired the IBM business, thus they should be of higher quality.
Yoga Laptops from Lenovo
When you need to utilize touch gestures, the Lenovo Yogas are a series of convertible laptops that can be converted into tablets or even a tent (and watch Netflix while lying on your bed).
They typically run Chrome OS, although certain variants can also run Windows.
Legion Laptops from Lenovo
These are the most expensive laptops on the market, designed mostly for gamers or professionals that use graphic design software.
They feature some of the finest specifications on the market, but they also cost a lot of money! I’ve never played on a Lenovo Legion, so I can’t speak well of this brand. For more difficult jobs, I have always chosen to utilize other well-known brands, mostly because I can generally find superior overall specifications.
This isn’t to say that the Lenovo Legion series isn’t suitable for gamers or people who need more power from their laptop.
Bringing everything to a close
In conclusion, Lenovo is an excellent brand that provides high-quality laptops at a reasonable price.
However, I would advise you to read user feedbacks carefully before buying one – simply to be aware of any problems that may affect other customers as well, since some of their models may have faults that are not common.
