‘We Restrict Certain Activity’ Instagram Message Explained

Patrice Shankman 3 min read

Recently, Instagram has been sending out messages to some users saying that “We Restrict Certain Activity” and asking them to change their behavior. This has caused confusion and concern among many people, so we wanted to provide more information about what this message means and what it doesn’t mean.

Why isn t Instagram Letting me Like Posts

If you’ve been seeing the message “We Restrict Certain Activity” when trying to like posts on Instagram, it means that our automated systems have detected that you may be misusing our Like button. This can happen for a variety of reasons, including (but not limited to) repeatedly liking and unliking the same post, or liking a large number of posts in a short period of time.

In most cases, this is not a permanent situation and you should be able to start liking posts again after a brief cooling-off period. However, if we continue to see this type of behavior from your account, it may be subject to further restrictions or disabled entirely.

We understand that people sometimes like and unlike posts for a variety of reasons, but we want to make sure everyone is using our Like button in the way it was intended. We hope this provides some clarity on what this message means and what you can do if you see it. Thanks for your understanding.

This is a message that Instagram has been sending out to some users recently. It says that “We Restrict Certain Activity” and asks them to change their behavior. This has caused confusion and concern among many people, so we wanted to provide more information about what this message means and what it doesn’t mean.

Why Would I Be Misusing the Like Button

There are a few reasons why you might be misusing the Like button, including:

  • Repeatedly liking and unliking the same post: This can be seen as spammy behavior and it doesn’t add value to the Instagram community. If you do this repeatedly, you may see the message “We Restrict Certain Activity.”
  • Liking a large number of posts in a short period of time: This can also be seen as spammy behavior. If you like a large number of posts in a short period of time, you may see the message “We Restrict Certain Activity.”
  • Liking a post and then unliking it soon after: This can be seen as misleading behavior. If you like a post and then unliking it soon after, you may see the message “We Restrict Certain Activity.”

How Can I Avoid Misusing the Like Button

There are a few things you can do to avoid misusing the Like button, including:

  • Take a break from liking posts for a while: If you’ve been liking a lot of posts recently, try taking a break for a while. This will help our automated systems reset and you should be able to start liking posts again after a brief cooling-off period.
  • Only like posts that you’re genuinely interested in: If you only like posts that you’re actually interested in, you’re less likely to be seen as a spammer.
  • Don’t like and unlike the same post multiple times: If you like a post, there’s no need to unlike it and then like it again. This doesn’t add value to the Instagram community and it can be seen as spammy behavior.
  • Don’t like a large number of posts in a short period of time: Liking a lot of posts in a short period of time can be seen as spammy behavior. If you want to like a lot of posts, spread out your likes over a longer period of time.
